Suspension

We all know when we hit that pothole around town and worry that is it for your car. Chris from C&S Automotive talks about the importance of keeping up on your suspension maintenance. SUSPENSION

If your vehicle’s steering and suspension isn’t working properly, you’re in for a bumpy ride – literally. Steering and suspension are responsible for keeping your wheels firmly intact with the ground, and a major player in keeping your car from veering to one side or the road.

Shocks are hydraulic pump like devices that help control the impact and rebound movement of your vehicle's springs and suspension. Shocks help your car stop. New shocks or struts can help you stop up to 10 feet sooner and provide increased vehicle stability and driver control.

The useful life of a shock or strut is roughly 50,000 miles. In that period, your vehicle’s shocks and struts will have cycled more than 85 million times. This can cause wear and tear on their internal components. If your vehicle’s mileage exceeds that amount, consider replacing your vehicle’s suspension components.

Like any system within your car, your vehicle’s suspension needs regular inspection and maintenance. A periodic wheel alignment can serve to both identify potential suspension problems and keep the suspension in good shape.
